Kevin Will, of Islip, was arrested at the Melville hotel on Thursday, April 8, by members of the FBI "Crimes Against Children and Human Trafficking Unit," according to federal prosecutors.
When arrested, Will was in possession of cocaine, whiskey, lubricants and condoms, two pairs of small women's underwear, a gold gift card for Xbox Live, and other items, a criminal complaint said.
According to the complaint, Will was in a Kik chat room called "LongIslandDLMenOnly," on Thursday, March 4, when he began a conversation with a man who was actually an undercover officer.
While speaking in the chat room, the officer, posing as the "father," of a 10-year-old boy, said he would be visiting the Long Island area and was looking for something to do with his son.
Will then sent the "father" private messages saying he would like to have anal and oral sex with the 10-year-old son while the "father," watched.
The two set up a meeting for Thursday, April 8, at a coffee shop in Farmingdale, in which the "father" agree to the sexual encounter and told Will that his son was in a hotel room in Melville and they should meet there.
The two parted ways and around 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Will pulled into the hotel and waited a few minutes in his vehicle. the "father" then called and gave him a room number and Will got out of his vehicle and went into the hotel and headed for the room, the complaint said.
As he approached the "room," Will was arrested by task force members.
While being arrested, the criminal complaint said Will uttered, "I messed up. I made a terrible mistake."
Will, who authorities say is unemployed, has been charged with attempted coercion and enticement.
He was released on a $1.5 million bond after using two homes in Islip and Commack to secure the bond.
Will was also ordered by the judge to home confinement and electronic monitoring, as well as being barred from having any internet devices.
